Founded by a local wife and husband team—Evette Szajna and Mark Carr—Szajna-Carr For The Paws is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit that has been operating for 2 years. Mark has worked as a toolmaker at Ford Livonia Transmission for 27 years, and Evette ran her own business as a Section 8 housing agent for 23 years.
Our mission is to provide equipment and vital supplies to Police K9 Units not normally covered in their budgets across the Tri-county area and Michigan. We’ve supported over 70 K9s in 50 departments with more than $35,000 worth of equipment (including bullet proof vests!) in Dearborn Heights, Cass County, and Saginaw. We are currently purchasing a new K9 for the Shelby Township Police Department.
We raise funds by donations, selling merchandise, and holding events. We seek businesses’ and individuals’ help in getting donations, sponsorship, support, and spreading the word.
