Building a Community Network: The Benefits of CRG

The Community Resource Guide’s digital platform launched in December 2024 with the objective of empowering communities to reach their full potential. As an ever-evolving digital ecosystem, CRG is designed to reconnect Michiganders to the cities in which they reside. But what exactly does that mean? How does it translate in practical terms?

The answer comes down to its grassroots foundation. The space on CRG provides a unique digital advertising platform that you won’t find anywhere else. However, this is not “advertising” in the traditional sense. Removed from Silicon Valley and mega-corporate control, everything is built and published right here in Metro-Detroit for our fellow community members. It is advertising space that is in service of community engagement, allowing municipalities, businesses, nonprofits, and more to connect to their neighbors.

What you will see as you explore the platform is that everything is organized around community hubs. All postings, business profiles, etc. are linked together via community pages. Those pages collect everything together to show you what is happening in that specific community, intended to help make it easier for individuals to connect to the area around them.

CRG is built to provide engaging content for your community. Accordingly, all space provided for businesses is organized within that goal. You will not see any outside advertising or other spam-type content on CRG—only those local businesses seeking to support community connection. Nor will you see any of the familiarities of social media, such as personal posting, hard news, political discussion, etc.

Furthermore, the same concept of connecting the individual content together applies to the entire platform. All of those community hubs are tied together too, because they are all in one place! In a nutshell, that is CRG. It is a means of bridging the gaps that we all feel in our communities today; CRG is built to foster the community growth that allows us all to thrive. And it is in that goal that we are seeking support for the platform.

All of these ideas are also visible in our municipal newsletters, which are published in print and found digitally on their respective community pages here on CRG. Reading those publications also helps show what we are building online… but here, it is bigger! We are expanding the platform everyday to include new communities and more information, focusing first on Macomb County. Reach out to Drive Creative Services if you share these values and goals for your organization!
