“Center Line Public Schools (CLPS) has a lot to celebrate! Our school district just celebrated its 125 year anniversary. Part of our celebration is memorializing this milestone by displaying a 125-year banner in front of each of our schools. Also this year, Wolfe Middle School was recognized as one of U.S. News and World Report’s “Best Middle Schools.” This extraordinary accomplishment was achieved through the hard work of our students and their teachers.
Another milestone is that we are starting our tenth year as a Ford Next Generation Learning Academy school district. There are fewer than seventy Ford NGL districts worldwide, and we are the third in Michigan. Our wall-to-wall career education approach starts in kindergarten and ends with our seniors graduating with industry certified credentials, employability skills, and career experiences that will carry them to the next stage of their professional careers.
We use the words Discover, Explore, and Experience to explain our educational approach. The school district’s portion of this publication is designed to highlight the uniqueness of Center Line Public Schools’ career academy approach to educating our students. Elementary learning opportunities are designed so that our youngest learners can discover the world around them and learn from experts in their fields. Our middle school continues the development of career education by creating experiences for students to explore different career paths. Exposing students to a wide range of opportunities and experiences allows them to identify their likes and dislikes while learning about their personal skill sets.
The high school journey includes guaranteed experiences designed to better prepare students for life after graduation. All freshmen participate in a college visit and a high-quality career fair. Sophomores participate in at least one industry tour in their chosen field and learn how businesses function and what skills are necessary to succeed in that profession. Juniors participate in at least one job shadow experience in a profession of high interest. Lastly, our seniors participate in an internship or complete a capstone project in a profession of their choosing.
Please spend some time paging through this issue to learn about of Academies of Center Line and all of the experiences designed not only to develop our students’ academic skills, but all that is done to assist them in deciding what they want to do after graduation. We are proud to serve the families of our community!”
