FAN Launches Mobile Hepatitis C Testing Program

Face Addiction Now (FAN) has launched a free mobile hepatitis C testing and treatment program, funded through a Hepatitis C Elimination Initiative Pilot from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

The program brings care directly into the community, offering rapid hepatitis C testing with results in about 20 minutes. Individuals who test positive receive on-site confirmatory testing and are immediately connected to treatment and ongoing support.

Staffed by a nurse practitioner, registered nurse, and community health workers, the initiative is designed to remove barriers such as transportation challenges, insurance access, and stigma—especially for underserved populations.

Hepatitis C is now highly curable, with treatment using oral pills effective in more than 95% of cases. Additional services, including free HIV and STI testing, are also available. All services are free, and no insurance is required. For more information or to request mobile outreach services, call (586) 551-3097.
