Historic Beer Returns to Mount Clemens!

Mount Clemens Brewing Company has revived the beloved Pearl Foam Export beer, a local staple from the late 1800s through Prohibition. Originally crafted by local German brewers, this flagship brew was served at MCBC and local establishments until the brewery closed in 1939. Now, thanks to the dedicated efforts of three Mount Clemens residents, Ian Cole, Tommy Virga, and John Aman, the signature flavors of Pearl Foam have been meticulously recreated using archived recipe hints, geographical research, and traditional ingredients like Perle hops and CaraFoam grain.

The beer made its celebrated debut on July 6, 2024, and quickly became a hit, prompting an emergency delivery to meet demand. Currently, Pearl Foam Export is available on tap locally at two historic establishments that originally served this iconic beer including The Rec Bowl. This revival not only pays homage to Mount Clemens’ rich brewing history but also offers a taste of nostalgia. Don’t miss the chance to taste a piece of our heritage—visit The Rec Bowl and raise a glass to history!
