Susie Q’s Kids was honored to be presented by Undersheriff Liz Darga to 100+ Women Who Care Macomb and selected for a generous grant. These women donate $100 quarterly to champion the many nonprofits in our community providing foundational services of support. Undersheriff Darga and Dr. Mary Welsh, President/Cofounder of Susie Q’s Kids, have partnered on multiple projects with the Clinton Township Kiwanis Club and the Sterling Heights Lions Club, and Darga was instrumental in placing our comfort bags in the vehicles of deputies in both Macomb and Oakland Counties. The tender stories of outreach and hope for children in their moment of need allow the deputies to calm the situation and offer comfort through a panda bear and bag.
Susie Q’s Kids supports many efforts throughout Southeast Michigan by providing comfort bags to other nonprofits (intentional giving as they have the food, clothing, and professional services to help the kids). Additionally, we build the servant leadership of our youth by targeting opportunities to share our mission, promote mental health/well-being and suicide awareness and prevention (affiliated with AFSP, NAMI, Viewfest, others), and offering ways to engage youth in philanthropic giving and service.
